The Center for Global Health, within the Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking a Health Sciences Research Tech to work in Dr. Cassano's laboratory.
Dr. Cassano's laboratory is seeking a full-time Health Sciences Research Tech to assist in a range of research activities in studies of infectious diseases. The Research Assistant will provide routine technical assistance in the preparation for and performance of health sciences laboratory and/or field research under direct supervision and instruction from the PI. They will perform standard research protocol, under detailed and controlled research parameters in a health sciences laboratory, clinical and/or field research setting. The research tech will conduct a variety of standardized tests and procedures; prepare data and samples; set up and operate standard laboratory or field-testing equipment. They will verify and record data and perform preliminary manipulation of experiment and/or test results. The tech will provide basic data analysis, summaries, and interpretations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Bacterial transformation, prepare plasmids, PCR and DNA gel analysis.
* Cell culture and transfection.
* Sample preparation for Western blot or microscopy analysis.
* Collect data of PCR, western blot, or microcopy.
* Autoclave; Prepare cell or bacteria culture medium or pipette tips; disposal of cell culture waste.

High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of directly related student practicum or equivalent experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
